PARALEGAL ROLE!


Paralegal

R & W Group has a great new paralegal position with a DC-based law firm! The ideal candidate will have a college degree (paralegal certificate is a plus) and a minimum of 1 year of paralegal/prior law firm experience. Must have solid computer skills, including: typing speed of 45 wpm or higher, experience with document management software (e.g. iManage, DocsOpen, NetDocuments, etc.), knowledge of the e-discovery process; solid skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook, database management systems (e.g., Concordance and/or Summation) and database systems/document review tools (e.g., Relativity). Sound research skills will also be very important. Ability to use the Internet and other online resources as a research tool; knowledge of and experience with Lexis and/or Westlaw, and The Bluebook and cite-checking skills are required. Duties and tasks include (but not limited to):

  • Serve as paralegal on assigned cases and is responsible for overall case management.

  • Participate in the design and management of the repository of case documents, establishing procedures to facilitate the organization and retrieval of documents.

  • Establish and maintain an open line of communication with the associates and/or support staff, providing reports with regard to the status of all case assignments/projects.

  • Ability to identify and resolve case related issues in a timely manner.

  • Analyze and organize documents as required by attorneys.

  • Manage document review and production database(s).

  • Manage the preparation of legal briefs (proofreading, cite-checking, Bluebook) and coordinate filing of same.

  • Assist attorneys with preparation and service of written discovery.

  • Ability to file documents electronically (via PACER) and in hard copy form in a variety of jurisdictions.

  • Manage maintenance of Key Case Indices (production logs, deposition calendar and exhibits, etc…).

  • Perform basic legal and factual research.

  • Manage the creation and maintenance of the case calendar.

  • Draft memos and correspondence as needed.

  • Coordinate working relationships with outside entities such as: co-counsel, opposing counsel, witnesses, service vendors, etc.

  • Perform various administrative tasks as required.

  • Perform other related duties as needed and/or assigned.

  • Adhere to all Firm policies and procedures.
