Business Development Manager!

Are you a BD Manager or ready to become one? If so, R & W Group has a fantastic new opportunity. One of our favorite law firm clients is looking for a BD Manager to join the firm and assist their IP group. In this role, you would report to the Senior Business Development Manager for litigation and work with the IP practice group leaders and lawyers to create and execute business development and marketing strategy to drive revenue with current and prospective clients.

As the principal point of contact and day-to-day adviser on business development for the IP Group, your responsibilities would include:

  • Meeting with practice group leaders(s) and partners to identify and track business development opportunities with new and current clients.

  • Managing RFP/proposal responses for the IP group and preparing customized pitch documents and presentation materials.

  • Proactively assisting in the development of business development plans in conjunction with IP group partners, practice group chairs and the senior BDM.

  • Coaching partners and senior associates in profile-raising and business development strategies; helping to integrate new lateral partners.

  • Monitoring and reporting on industry trends and issues impacting key clients and practice-specific developments that offer new opportunities in the form of pitches, alerts, webinars, events.

  • Partnering with Research and Information Services and Finance on business development-related client research and litigation monitoring for opportunities to pitch IP work to current firm clients.

  • Researching and evaluating referral sources, sponsorship opportunities, and speaking engagements to help raise the profile of the IP Group.

  • Preparing directory submissions for Chambers, Legal 500, etc.

  • Supporting and using the firm’s CRM (InterAction) to track business development and client activities.

  • Working with lawyers, marcom, and BD colleagues to produce communications, including practice e-newsletters, client advisories, announcements, bios, practice descriptions, etc.

  • Maintaining appropriate website content, including regular edits to attorney bios, and updating representative matters lists.

  • Working with Events team on virtual and in-person IP-related events, including strategic targeting and tracking and reporting ROI.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS required

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of BD/marketing experience

Must be able to comply with all safety requirements in the workplace which may include provision of proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 and adherence to other safety protocols implemented.
