Business Development Specialist!
R&W Group is seeking marketing and business development candidates with 2-3 years of experience in a professional services environment for an excellent Business Development Specialist opportunity with a large law firm in DC. The Business Development Specialist is responsible for supporting marketing and business development initiatives on behalf of the firm’s practice groups and key firm-wide strategic initiatives. The Business Development Specialist should be a self-starter who works well in a team and enjoys a fast-paced, collegial environment. It is also imperative to consistently demonstrate accuracy and strong attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Development Specialist will support the Business Development Manager to help implement and monitor short- and long-term strategic business development initiatives. Core responsibilities will include:
Provide marketing support for the firm's regulatory and corporate practices, including supporting key groups and attorneys on targeted business development opportunities
Conduct research on prospects and clients and write clear, concise reports of findings
Support Business Development Managers in preparing, documenting, and following up on responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including final document preparation, tracking pitch and proposal activity, and maintaining a library of pitch materials
Participate in competitor tracking and research, and monitor industry business intelligence
Coordinate the updating and formatting of practice group descriptions, attorney biographies, matters and case descriptions, speaking engagement write-ups, publications, and other marketing/business development materials
Assist with identifying and managing market-facing opportunities, such as networking events, targeted sponsorships, and client seminars, including prospect research, collateral production, planning logistics, on-site support and follow-up activities
Draft, edit, and finalize submissions for rankings and awards, such as Chambers USA and Legal 500 US
Attend practice group meetings and develop deep understanding and awareness of practice group activities
Work on special business development projects or research tasks as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
Prior research experience or a demonstrated interest in such work is highly desired
Ability to consistently demonstrate accuracy and strong attention to detail in work product
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Adobe In-Design is desired
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to organize workflow and use time efficiently, prioritize assignments, and multi-task in a deadline-driven environment
Excellent customer service skills and ability to collaborate with others
Demonstrates initiative and willingness to take ownership of projects
Demonstrates sound judgment
Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
Flexibility to work overtime on an as-needed basis
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree is required (major in marketing or business preferred).
Experience:
Two (2) to three (3) years of relevant work experience at a law firm or professional services environment.
